Dr. Douglas M. Brown has over 20 years’ experience setting up and recovering governance practices in the public and private sector, including financial services, communications and medical technology companies. He has worked in leading consultancies including KPMG, Gartner and Robbins-Gioia and served for 8 years as a senior Federal manager of IT governance practices. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Southern California and serves as a mentor in the Project Management Institute’s mentor-protégé program. Recent consulting assignments include developing capability-based IT service management and SAFe-Agile acquisition practices for the US Marine Corps, setting up business process and knowledge management practices for the military Joint Staff, and setting up Agile-based management of an operating program office in the Department of Homeland Security. Previous professional experience includes managerial and consulting engagements in diverse governance-related activities such as strategy development, technology business management (TBM), program management, enterprise architecture, cost modeling and forecasting, capital planning and investment control (CPIC), and performance management.
He is a graduate of the US Military Academy at West Point and received his Ph.D. degree in Policy Analysis from The American University in Washington DC. Among other certifications, he holds the PgMP and PMP from the Project Management Institute and is a Lean Six-Sigma Master Black Belt.
