Engagement: Performance Management for Defense Business Systems related Programs

Background: One of the challenges that the Defense Department’s management was facing was to track and review the performance for their programs so that necessary corrective actions can be taken proactively. Peridot Solutions has been engaged with Enterprise Integration Directorate at Business Transformation Agency to support various Department of Defense ERP programs to provide Metrics Development and Strategic, Operational and Transactional Metric Support.

Solution: Peridot Solutions has conducted multiple workshops with various stakeholders to define the strategic, operational, program and system metrics, their thresholds, formulas to measure, and governance to ensure data accuracy and reporting to the management. This enabled the executive management and functional sponsors to link the program performance to the business mission and goals in clear and quantifiable terms. The metrics development includes National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) Section 932 DIMHRS Transition performance metrics development in clear and quantifiable terms, their reporting and management.

Results: In Sept 2008, Deputy Secretary of Defense has awarded a six-sigma green belt award to the Enterprise Performance Management framework that was created for DIMHRS.
